Gastro tastes, aromas and colors

Istrian prosciutto is highly regarded around the world for its exceptional quality. A true delight for the palate, it has earned its almost royal status thanks to its distinctive taste, delicate aroma, and rich, natural color. Air-dried by the sea and seasoned only with time and tradition, Istrian prosciutto reflects the character of the region itself.

Equally important in Istrian gastronomy is cheese, especially traditional hard cheeses made from cow’s, sheep’s, or mixed milk. Matured under carefully controlled conditions, Istrian cheeses are known for their full-bodied flavor and slightly spicy notes, which pair perfectly with prosciutto. Together, they form a classic Istrian platter that showcases the simplicity and authenticity of local ingredients.

Istrian Malvasia is the most widespread grape variety in the Fažana area. This ancient autochthonous variety grows throughout Istria and has become a true symbol of wine production in both Fažana and the wider region. Fresh, aromatic, and well-balanced, it is the ideal companion to local prosciutto and cheese. Other Istrian wines that you simply must taste include Teran, Muscat, and Chardonnay.

These authentic local products can be tasted and purchased at the Traditional Evenings at the waterfront, held every Wednesday from 15 June to 15 September, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience Istrian flavors directly from local producers.
